Who we are
Yes for Our Children’s Future (YFOCF) was started in the early 1990’s by concerned Albuquerque business leaders volunteering to assist the Albuquerque Public School District in passage of its bond issue and mill levy elections that provide capital funding for all of the districts school, administrative and athletic facilities. We have learned to never take any election for granted and we believe that the taxpaying citizen should be educated on the contents of these elections. We are proud to state that the funding allocation and prioritization system used along with the accountability standards employed by APS give us the confidence to proudly support passage of these elections.
YFOCF raises campaign contributions that are spent on advertising for a “Yes” vote at the polls. In addition, members are active in campaigning to the public by going door to door, displaying yard signs and speaking at organizational functions throughout the District. Our funds pay for advertising media and events that favor passage.
YFOCF currently has over 30 volunteers that participate in these efforts. In the last 3 school bond/mill levy elections, 2005, 2006 and 2007: APS’s elections passed by significant margins raising over $1 billion dollars that has built 11 new schools, made new additions and remodels to over 5 million square feet of educational facilities, and is providing maintenance to over 12 million square feet of facilities.
YFOCF members also get on the streets, going door to door. The ‘Bubble Gum Brigade’ and Albuquerque Interfaith have provided significant positive exposure for the elections by highlighting our kids and their parents. Both of these groups have been sponsored in part by YFOCF.
